About anti-dustimite Acarsan® Natural Range

All the products in Velfont’s Natural Acarsan® range have a natural anti-dustmite treatment that allows allergy suffers to have a comfortable and refreshing rest. The anti-dustmite treatment, tested by independent laboratories, is made with vegetable extracts of Margosa and Geraniol.
This treatment is 100% natural and recommended for all ages. The Margosa, cultivated in Southeast Asia, it has been used as an allergically treatment in traditional oriental medicine. Number of studies have shown that this plant contains pharmacological substances capable of repelling pests and insects.
The Geraniol comes from the geranium. The oil from this plant serves as a natural active ingredient with dermatological properties and cell regeneration capacity. These are the Natural Acarsan range anti-dustmite products: covers for mattresses and pillow covers, mattress protectors and quilted pads, pillows and duvets.
What are dustmites?
Dustmites are microscopic organisms imperceptible to the human eye that mainly live in warm (25ºC/30ºC) and humid (60%-80%) habitats. Since they feed off our dead skin and other wastes from the body when we sleep, the mattresses become the perfect home for them.
How do dustmites affect people?
Dustmites particles, specially feces, are suspended in the air. When inhaling these substances, allergy symptoms such as asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis and eczema occur. Allergy symptoms experienced by people with mite allergy are, mainly, inflammation of the brochial mucosa, itching and difficulty breathing.
Mite allergies is, to this day, one of the most widespread allergies. According to the Spanish Society of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Pedriatic Asthma (SEICAP) between 70 and 80% of children living in coastal áreas have mite allergies.

Our advices
Using anti-dustmite bedding products for your bed: Make sure they are made of breathable material, are approved and have been tested by independent laboratories.
Clean your bedding regularly: Velfont’s Natural Acarsan® product range allows washing at 40ºC and its efficacy remains after several washes. Without using anti-dustime products you should wash at least at 60ºC to remove dustmites, which represents a higher energy consumption and a greater deterioration of the fabric. Washing at low temperatures will temporarily remove the allergen. However, mites will survive and produce more allergens after a while.
Lean the room daily: 10 minutes is enough.
Clean your room regularly: If possible, remove rugs, carpets, and curtains. And in children’s rooms, pay special attention to stuffed animals, which are an ideal focus for dustmites.
